Sleeping Baby, Staring Parents

Time spent on getting your baby to sleep can be quite substantial. So it is strange that when parents do get their babies to sleep, they then stand there watching the baby. Seeing the quirky facial movements, the half smile, the quivering lip, the big grin that seems to represent a ‘number 2’, or the Oooohh look of a ‘number 1’.

I’m sure that the baby can sense you are there, either by some unknown sense, or the slight noises and movements that the parents are making. Why do we do it though, is there some reason we risk waking the baby again with a desire to watch, now that all is quiet. Do we all of a sudden wish the baby was noisy again? (I’m fairly sure that this is not the case).

Personally I think there is something about the tranquil look on a babies face that gives you a warm, happy feeling inside.
