Small Bump, Big Bump

Yesterday afternoon we were visiting one of the local Malls and ended up going into two particular shops,  Mamas & Papas and Pottery Barn Kids. In the past visits to this particular shops have always been about finding a present for one of our friends who have just had a baby.

This time there was a slight difference, the obvious being you are looking for items for yourselves, but you also notice what the staff are doing. They would ask if we needed any help, and instantly their eyes move down to see how big a ‘bump‘ your wife has. It wasn’t just us either, you could see the same thing going on with several of the other customers.

It was almost as though they were determining how much money you had to spend – the bigger the bump, the more items you would probably have already bought for your upcoming birth.
