Breaking the News

Near the end of last month the first trimester of the pregnancy ended; up until that point we had not told many people of the news. Family was of course first, and I was actually surprised at the reaction. My birthday coincided with us starting to tell friends the news, and if I was to describe the reaction I would almost say they were ‘chuffed‘.

If I cast my mind back to1992 when my first nephew ‘showed-up’, I remember in my mind a lot of the detail – where  I was, who I was with – but my recollection of the reaction of others is a bit vague. I shouldn’t really be surprised, it is family after all, but I think in my mind, I didn’t know exactly what to expect. There must come a point in your life where there are fewer and fewer uniquely new experiences, and this is one. And a fantastic one at that!

Our nieces and nephews have been surprisingly vocal about the arrival of a new cousin and we already have volunteers for baby-sitting!

My nephew made a quite comical statement…. followed with a rather witty retort by my niece (his sister):

A 14 and and 15 Year Old do Battle

This was shortly followed, with a naming marathon, or at least, names that they thought would be good:

Pablo, Sparkle, Carlos, Nikolai, Floweer, Franco, Moonbeam, Adolf, Enzo, Giuseppe, Mario, Luigi, Maria, Sophia, Margarita, Isabella, Fiorenza, Giuseppina, Rosalba, Nero, Ceasa, Julius, Ruiz, Cristina, Ancelloti, Kevino, Caecilius, Mussolina, Zorro, Sonic, Wagner, Arthur, Vinci, Musilini!

– no accounting for taste!!
